SMA504: STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

Course Outline

Course objective: In the highly competitive and dynamic world of business, a successful leader must understand the impact of internal and external forces on the design, planning and implementation of organization’s strategies. In addition, gaining and sustaining a competitive advantage is harder than ever. This course deals with such complexity in management and aims to develop the students’ ability to analyze such issues and look for potential solutions with the study of both theoretical and practical contexts.

Intended learning outcomes:

·       Understand the key concepts, complexity, and challenges of strategic management.

·       Be able to demonstrate competence of strategic thinking.

·       Be able to use the knowledge and competence obtained in the course in a business or management environment to formulate and implement strategies in the context of issues such as globalization, social responsibility and stainability.

Learning methods and activities:

·       Teaching method: online class, quizzes, cases etc.

·       Assignment: All students must pass an individual assignment in order to take the final examination. In addition, there will be different activities or works online in which everyone should be participated.

·       Final examination: At the end of the semester, students take final examination online.

·       Evaluation: Final examination- 50%, Mandatory assignment: 25%, others: 25%
