Why E-Learning?

E-learning is becoming ever more popular due to technological advancements, changes in perception, and the flexibility it provides. COVID-19, which has had a significant impact on life in general and, more specifically, the education sectors worldwide, has increased interest in e-learning many folds. As with anything that grows in popularity, e-learning tools and technology have been improving to make it more interactive and accessible.

UNESCO defines e-learning as an approach to facilitate and enhance learning by means of computers, software, and the Internet. This includes email, discussion forums, and collaborative software. For example, it allows students with hectic schedules, those who reside far away from the institution they want to attend, or those who prefer to learn at their own pace, to continue their education.

E-learning has certain advantages over traditional learning.

E-learning has the following advantages:

  • Flexibility allows the student to study at his or her own pace.
  • Accessibility: Those who are unable to physically attend the institution can participate virtually.
  • Reduced costs: It allows institutions to downsize and occupy smaller facilities with fewer employees and utility costs. The reduction in costs benefits the students because the institution can provide the same quality of education at a more affordable price.
  • Institutions can hire highly qualified teachers or professors from around the globe who might not be available to them in a traditional setting due to their being in different locations.
  • Greater selection of programs: e-learning has made more programs, skills, tools, and programs available to a much larger pool of learners, many of which most learners would not have had access to in a conventional setting today.

Accord University is looking to be a leader in e-learning and be globally accessible to all qualified citizens of the world. We believe that e-learning will be the future of tertiary education in the near future due to current trends and technological advancements.
